Selection time

Election time this is. There are many 'leaders' who have swapped places and parties. And I think, it is selection time for me. Do not get the idea that this is gonna be yet another post on Indian elections. Rather, this is yet another post on "IPL"!
I had a dream - a dream that the Knights would do something remarkable for us, the die-hard fans, but that has been squashed! Now, I don't mind that much. If you notice the logo, the word 'Kolkata' has been taken out from the team name, making it more generic and the home base would not be Kolkata in the next edition. And, also with 'dada' scheduled to a receive a kick in the a** next year, I don't mind supporting other teams. Remember? I said it is 'selection' time for me! I shall shut my mouth till the time it is ascertained that the Knights are out of the tournament. Till then, the Knight Advertising and Showbiz Company can breathe a sigh of relief! Happy dancing, Shahrukh, Buchanan, Mc-cullum and Co.!!! You have the beautiful cheerleaders for company!!!

Is this the beginning?

Ya ya ya... I see I see I see...
People are peeping in to see if I have posted something new. **proud look**
Afterall, finally the KKR have won and what more! Our beloved Ganguly dada returned the best bowling figures scalping two in an over!!! Good. I am happy. One small regret, though! The rain played the 12th man's role for KKR.

And, tough luck, Yuvi!

ps. I am very unlucky to have missed the action. All the above info is courtesy: cricinfo.com

Harbo harbo harbo re??? :'(

Disgusting
Degenerating
Boring
Sadistic
Poor
5 quick words that came to my mind as soon as I thought about yesterday's much-hyped match between the KKR and the DC. Mark my words: The Deccan Chargers are going to be a force to reckon with in this second edition of the IPL. The charge of the Chargers was just too much to handle for Mc-Cullum and company. And oh my - Fidel Edwards is his name! What a bowler he is! Many (myself included) did not have too much expectations out of him. But he just zipped through the defences of the batsmen with finesse. Though it is just a premature stage to guess anything. Even the KKR can bounce back! But one thing for sure: The Deccan Chargers are not gonna be last in the league table this time around!

And one final comment: I support Gavaskar. Mr John Buchanan tried too many things on the Knights and it seems to have boomeranged. The team is in tatters. No team spirit. No batting. No bowling. No fielding. Everyone seemed to be going through the motions, as if defeat was destiny! And the players were tense, as if it was a case of life and death. The natural game was missing from everyone. And yes, it was a WRONG selection to bat first! Well, I am no one to suggest all these. But it is the sentiment of a die-hard cricket fan that is probably coming through all of these! I have the right to see our team perform well. And I also have the right to say, isn't it? Mr Buchanan?

Korbo lorbo jitbo re!

IPL or The Indian Premier League is here once more. Oops! Not here, in South Africa. What I meant was, IPL is here on our television sets once more. Yesterday saw the clash of the biggest teams of last year. And both the champions and the runners up were washed away by some fabulous cricket from the two maestros Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Every time I see Sachin, I am awestruck at his talent and consistency. I wonder the day he leaves cricket he would be standing on a pile of runs which would be hard to achieve at any format of the game. I remember I had once wished him happy birthday in class 10. Those were the days, when I was just getting acclimatized to the Internet. There were many students and everyone wanted to wish something. I was lucky to get the opportunity first. So I wrote, "Sachin, may you get 100 centuries". Many laughed at that! Many giggled! I thought that may be that was wishing too much. But today, when I see him spanking 80+ centuries in both formats of the game, it seems not too impossible. Is it?

Dravid had a very tough time last year. So it was really nice to see him batting the way he did.

I have always been a huge fan of the trio: Sachin, Saurav, Rahul and I wish this year, in the IPL, each would be at his individual best.

All said, I am all for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Today they have the first match and I cannot wait to get hooked up to the television set at 8 in the evening today. Lets see what dada does this time around.

"Korbo lorbo jitbe re!!!" Are you with me? :D

Kolkata is hot!!!

"tujhse naraz nahi zindagi, hairan hun mai..."

This is the song I am listening to now. Not sure this is the right song to listen to at this point. It is hot out here in Kolkata, very hot! Yesterday's discomfort factor was 55 degrees. For those who do not know what a discomfort factor means, it is simply the temperature equivalent of the climatic condition taking all other factors like humidity at their comfortable best. I don't know how's life like at other parts of India and the world at the moment. But it's raining fire here!!! Well almost...

And now I am listening to......... "Garam masala.." ;) ;) ;)

23 on 25

Hmm... I've been tagged once more. And this time it is by Alice.
I have to jot down 25 random things about myself. Let me try.

1. I am unpredictable. Mood swings happen at the drop of a hat. One moment I am over the moon, the other moment, I feel like committing suicide.
2. But all said, there is no one in this world who can gauge my thoughts. You can at most try.
3. I have a strong head on my shoulders. Though I have frequent up and downfalls, I am seldom affected. Bouncing back from setbacks is one of my strongest qualities.
4. If I would have let my inner feelings come out, a lot of people (who think they got the better out of me) might have actually feared me. :D
5. But I am not bad by any means. :)
6. There are two sides of my character (or face?). You remember Lord Voldemort? Just like that.
7. I can't fight. Last time, I fought in school and was badly hurt. What prevents me from being a good fighter is that I continuously think if I would hurt the other person badly.
8. I love to fall in love. But seldom, that gets reciprocated. My last crush is actually very happy that she could get rid of me. hehe.. :D At the moment she's busy mountaineering with her sweet heart. (whatever that means) LOLZ
9. I love chocolates and ice creams and pastries. Bring 'em on! :P
10. I write this blog to take out my frustrations and like being appreciated.
11. I am a jack of all trades, master of none. Trying to change it to 'master of all'. hehe.. :D
12. My secret ambition is to travel around the world and get familiar with unfamiliar people and places.
13. As I write this post, I am continuously turning to Alice's page to see if I can hire some ideas!
14. I am desperately seeking tuition on Loveology. Any tutors around?
15. I am a confused soul. I tend to lose opportunities even when they come knocking at the door.
16. I believe in God and seek His help whenever I am in distress.
17. I am all for equality and righteousness and justice.
18. People underestimate me all the time and I always enjoy proving them wrong.
19. I think I can make out people's characteristics very easily by just interacting with them. But I also err and often pay a heavy price.
20. I love varying my music according to mood. I think most of you do that!
21. I hate flirting and I hate girls who flirt just for the sake of it.
22. I don't like being given choices. Decide something for me and I would say if it is okay for me.
23. I hate politics (national, workplace or anything else).
24.
25.

I am leaving the last two blank, as I have run out of ideas. Comment about me if you think I missed something. Umm, let me tag Madhavan, Oorjas, Hope, Vishesh and Varun on this one.

Enjoy!!!

In the shelter of The Divine

...and life moves on...

Today I visited the Adyapith and Dakshineswar temples on the bank of the river Ganges and immersed myself into spirituality. It is amazing how at these times of war, hatred and cruelty, simple principles are still upheld there. Sample these:

  • No religion is greater than humanity.
  • Every religion be it Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, Judaism etc are basically ways to get close to The Divine.
  • No religion is small. Each has its own specialities. Each is great in individual ways. Tolerance for everyone is the order of the day.
  • Love is the choicest blessing in the world. Once you know to love mankind, once you learn to see Him in all forms of life, there is no way you can hate anyone.
I am lost for words describing the significance of each of these points... so true. Why do we fight in the name of petty things? Why?
